This map overlay puts the image in the approximate geographic location so you can compare THEN vs. NOW. The slider in the upper right adjusts the transparency so you can see the original image or the current map better. Another handy feature is the fullscreen button () in the upper right as well. It toggles the view so you can interact with the map using the entire viewing screen.
